An explosion in an LA Welding Shop leaves fatalities

Two workers have been killed after a gas explosion in an industrial plastic coating shop.
The two storey building where the explosion occurred is located in South Los Angeles. Nearly 100 Firefighters fought the blaze for 25 minutes before bringing it under control. The fierce explosion which occurred at 6:15 a.m. sounded like a loud bang and was heard by nearby workers
The front part of the two storey building has been completely destroyed. One worker, terrified by the explosion was found lodged under a car parked in the street; he was freed by the fire fighters. and is reported to have been killed by the explosion.
Another person trying to move a truck from debris received an electric shock of 34,500 volts; he was taken to a local hospital but the shock was fatal.
The fire fighters used search dogs’ to look for bodies .The dogs were sent into the building in search of trapped survivors or bodies but none was found. The Fire fighters conducted further investigations to make sure that no other part of the building was unsafe.
Jonathan Apol, 20, a welder who works in a building next door was putting on his work clothes when he heard the explosion. He reports: “I thought it was like an earthquake or something.”
It is reported that the natural gas that initiated the spark also contained acetylene and flammable oxygen.
