Intel financial projection for 3rd quarter 2010 revised downward

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Reported by: Eric CRWE Newswire Middle East correspondent

Intel Corp (NASDAQ: INTC) has revised its forecasts for the third quarter of 2010. The top microprocessor manufacturer expects revenue of $11 billion; this has been revised from earlier projection of revenue between $11.2 billion to $12 billion.

The company lowered its expectations as it anticipates lower demand for consumer PC’s in developed markets. As per IDC data lower consumer spending will result in a drop in PC shipments for the second half, eventually affecting business of Intel Corp’s and other related companies.
IDC spokesperson stated, “We expect consumer activity to remain healthy, but gradually slow through the end of the year, while commercial market growth will be more stable, reflecting a planned replacement cycle over the next several years.”

PC shipments gained in the first half 2010 as compared to last year as the economy began a recovery from the recession but now PC manufactures like Dell Inc expects a sluggish demand for the second half of 2010.

On the other hand chief financial officer of Dell Inc Brian Gladden also projects a surge in demand for consumer PCs by the end of the year due to the holiday season.

According to one estimate almost 80 percent of computers globally opt for Intel micro processors. Intel Corporation (Public, NASDAQ:INTC) gained 1.05 percent to $18.37 with total traded volume of 135.20 million shares for the day.

WebSafety, Inc. (OTCBB: WBSI), the leading provider of mobile and Internet safety technologies, takes the intent of distracted driving pledges a step further and helps to enforce state bans with the company’s CellSafety software, which prevents the dangerous and often deadly practice of texting-while-driving. CellSafety uses proprietary technology to electronically detect when a car is moving at speeds above 10mph and prohibits the driver’s ability to send or read text and email messages or utilize the phone web browser.

Distracted driving is one of the most serious, life-threatening practices on our nation’s roadways with almost 8,000 crashes related to distracted driving occurring daily in the United States. CellSafety is the only application that works on all four of the major U.S. wireless carriers and works with the Android, Blackberry and Symbian wireless operating systems to ensure that a driver’s eyes are on the road and off their phone.

The CellSafety mobile application also includes additional features which inhibit texting in school via “No Texting Zones” in order to prevent scholastic cheating as well as notifications in real-time if users are sending or receiving inappropriate text messages. CellSafety is also effective in reducing corporate liability for vehicular accidents caused by an employee’s improper use of a company-issued mobile device while driving.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire McAfee, Inc., through the purchase of all of the company’s common stock at $48 per share in cash, for approximately $7.68 billion. Both boards of directors have unanimously approved the deal, which is expected to close after McAfee shareholder approval, regulatory clearances and other customary conditions specified in the agreement.

The acquisition reflects that security is now a fundamental component of online computing. Today’s security approach does not fully address the billions of new Internet-ready devices connecting, including mobile and wireless devices, TVs, cars, medical devices and ATM machines as well as the accompanying surge in cyber threats. Providing protection to a diverse online world requires a fundamentally new approach involving software, hardware and services.

Inside Intel, the company has elevated the priority of security to be on par with its strategic focus areas in energy-efficient performance and Internet connectivity.

McAfee, which has enjoyed double-digit, year-over-year growth and nearly 80 percent gross margins last year, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intel, reporting into Intel’s Software and Services Group. The group is managed by Renée James, Intel senior vice president, and general manager of the group.

Will Intel benefit from McAfee Acquisition?

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Reported by: Eric CRWE Newswire Middle East correspondent

Intel Corp announced the acquisition of McAfee (MFE) on Thursday by agreeing to pay 60 percent premium on the previous day’s close price.

The total acquisition transaction valued $7.7 billion.

Analysts and traders maintain mixed feelings about the new merger between two companies which are less likely to create any merger synergies as both companies have totally different core business functions.

There are several reasons for why investors and analysts are uncertain about the successful results of the current Intel Corp acquisition. First Intel is microprocessor chip maker while McAfee is a security software developer, the integration of both companies does not make sense. Secondly Intel Corp earlier acquisitions also ended up in a disaster such as $2.2 billion acquisition of communications chip manufacturer Level One in 1999.

However Intel believes that acquisition with McAfee will result in capturing of higher market share in the cellular chip industry. With AMD as its direct rival in computer processor, Intel now faces tough competition in the mobile device market from Qualcomm and Snapdragon processors. Further to capture the mobile devices market Intel also acquired Wind River Systems for $884 million last year.

As per agreement McAfee will operate as a fully owned but independent subsidiary but what really concerns investors and analysts is how Intel will shift McAfee’s core business of developing antivirus, malware stomping software to a micro chip processor.

Mixed reviews are maintained in the market as some say that the McAfee acquisition is a total waste of money whereas some believe that it’s the most cunning move ever made by Intel Corp.

Gold American Mining Corp. (OTC.BB:SILA) reports additional positive results from its Guadalupe property, located in the heart of the Fresnillo district, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Fieldwork continues to identify additional veins within the property — as such several veins remain without names. To date nine veins have been mapped within the Guadalupe property. In certain locations the width of sampling was limited by the size of the workings and as such the true width of mineralization remains unknown.

The Guadalupe property contains two historically significant mines and is located in one of Mexico’s oldest mining districts, roughly 5 miles north of the Fresnillo (Proaño) Mine, the world’s richest underground silver mine, operated by Fresnillo plc. Roughly 6.8 miles to the southwest of Silver America’s Guadalupe Property is the Juanicipio Joint Venture (JV) between MAG Silver Corp. (MAG) and Fresnillo plc, which is known as one of the world’s highest grade undeveloped silver resources.

The Property contains greater than 20 known workings as well as two historic mines — Santa Rita and San Antonio. Historic records containing references to the Santa Rita and San Antonio mines suggest that both mines were important and reached their height of production between 1910 and 1920 but were last in production in the 1980s. The property is completely surrounded by land controlled by Peñoles (either through Fresnillo or other subsidiaries and partners).

Cono Italiano, Inc. (OTC.BB:CNOZ) has acquired the North American Distribution, Manufacturing and Licensing Rights for “Pizza Cono,” the developer of a drip-free cone made from proprietary dough designed to be consumed while on the go, from Spuntibreak S.r.l. and Pizza Hands of Milan, Italy. Pizza Hands can be identified worldwide by its trademark “P Group,” with licensees throughout the world and sales in excess of $40M in 2009.

Mitchell Brown, CEO of Cono Italiano, Inc., stated, “We are anxious to introduce Pizza Cono to the North American Market and gain the company’s market share of the $4.4 billion frozen pizza category. Frozen pizza is among the fastest growing categories in supermarkets and convenience stores.”

Cono Italiano and its licensor, Pizza Hands, hold several U.S. and International patents for both the design and microwave preparation of the cone. The microwave patent enables the consumer to cook a frozen filled cone in 3 minutes or less in a microwave, TurboChef Tornado, or any high speed efficiency oven currently being used in most quick service restaurants (QSRs), fast food chains and convenience stores throughout North America. Mr. Brown went on to say, “The company’s current and future customers have suggested we offer a microwaveable product for cnoz_logotheir clientele to maximize sales.” This is instrumental in the growth of the company’s sales and revenues, as well as increasing its customer base.

US stock markets indexes face declines due to weaker economic data

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Reported by: Eric CRWE Newswire Middle East correspondent

Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.39 percent to 10,271.21 shedding almost 144.33 points in today’s trading session. Standard and Poor’s 500 index declined 1.69 percent to 1,075.63 points which is its lowest level since July 21st, 2010 whereas NASDAQ Composite Index dropped by 1.66 percent losing 36.75 points to close at 2,178.95 level for the day.

Out of every five stocks four faced correction in today’s trading session at New York Stock Exchange whereas total traded volume stood at 1.1 billion shares for the day. Over all bearish sentiments were maintained in the market due to disappointing economic reports creating concerns about the sluggish economic recovery.

The US Labor Department disclosed that unemployment claims have increased considerably in the last week whereas the Federal Reserve of Philadelphia added more negativity for the market by reporting that manufacturing activity in mid Atlantic region had plunged for the month of August 2010. Philadelphia Federal Reserve index for manufacturing survey stood in the negative zone with 7.7 for August as compared to positive of 5.1 for the month of July.

As investors shifted their focus toward Treasury bonds as a much safer investment, interest rates fell sharply.

As the market was on a selling spree due to the negative economic indicators, Intel announced acquisition of McAfee Inc for an all cash deal of $48 per share ending with a total acquisition of $7.68 billion. McAfee shares gained 57.1 percent to close at $47.02 in the days trading session with total volume of 185.64 million shares but the news wasn’t enough to offset the impact of sluggish economic data. Intel Corp on the other hand faced correction of 3.1 percent to close at $18.98 for the day
