Germany’s love parade techno turned out to be a deathly event when a mass panic resulted in the death of almost 21 people while injuring an estimated 500 on July 24th.

The cause of the unexpected panic is still unknown, but it was reportedly due to the organizer’s negligence that caused the catastrophe. The organizers were unable to control the number of people entering the tunnel shaped entrance which led to a panic panic.

Dieter Wehe, chief of police controller, North Rhine-Westphalia state, said, “Security did not fulfill its duty”.

Similarly the Interior Minister, Ralph Jaeger was overheard laying blame on the organizer for not preventing the onslaught of visitors who were rushing through the entrance in Duisburg.

A tribute will now be given for those who died in the crowd. The street near the accident site is covered with flowers and candles and a condolence book has been setup at a Duisburg church where the ceremony is expected to be held. Tribute pages are being created on different websites. The social-giant facebook.com has set up a page in memory of a lady from Sydney, Clancy Ridley, who died in the cataclysm.

Survivors have expressed their sympathy for those whose loved ones died, while relatives of the injured are waiting for their family members to recover; they also need an answer for their seemingly simple question: “Who is to be blamed for the panic?”

Organizers who cancelled the festival permanently after the tragedy, have been questioned about their wisdom in selecting a location too small to accommodate the expected number of the people who attempted to attend the techno.

It has been reported that revelers from Netherlands, China, Italy, Spain and Bosnia were amidst those who died in the nighttime tragedy.
A large screen placed in a nearby city square will broadcast the tribute-providing the ceremony directly from a church at Duisburg, where the ceremony will begin. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Christian Wulff are expected to join the mourners at the memorial service this Saturday.
