Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and ITA Software, Inc., the leader in developing innovative solutions for the travel industry, today announced advanced capabilities that support Southwest’s website enhancements and allows the airline to further extend the capabilities of southwest.com moving forward. Southwest selected ITA’s QPX(TM) system to support its recent website updates, making it even easier for customers to take advantage of the airline’s industry-leading low fares.
Midcontinent Express Pipeline (MEP) has received authorization from the Pipelines Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to increase the maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) on a substantial portion of Zone 1 from .72 to .8 design. This authorization enables MEP to serve its full current contracted capacity level. MEP is jointly owned by Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE: KMP) and Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (ETP). KMP operates the pipeline.
Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX) today announced that it has scheduled an Investor and Financial Analyst Day in New York City on November 5, 2009. This event will be hosted by Terry Blakemore, Black Box’s President and CEO and include presentations by members of the Black Box management team. The agenda will include discussion of the Company’s offerings, markets, growth strategies and financial model followed by a question and answer session. Presentations are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. EST and conclude at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Density Dynamics, a majority owned subsidiary of Speedus Corp. (Nasdaq: SPDE), announced today it is offering a new InDrive-Tiering enhancement for its RamFlash Jet.io Solid State Drive. The design includes up to 32GB of DRAM storage capacity for heavy write requirements as well as extended capacity using Flash for less accessed storage. This patent-pending technology allows for significant capacity expansion in the Jet.io RF-SSD for applications that have more focused write workloads. The Jet.io products come in a uniquely compact 3.5-inch form factor alleviating I/O bottlenecks using dramatically lower power than other storage solutions.
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a world leader in ICs for consumer devices, has introduced the first single-chip audio subsystem IC to include 3D sound enhancement for improved stereo effects in small equipment, such as notebook PCs, mobile internet devices, gaming consoles, or any portable multimedia devices offering high-quality sound, enriching the consumer’s audio experience.
Black Dragon Resource Companies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:BDGR) has announced the closing of the agreement to acquire an interest in a 640 acre lease in the Caddo-Pine Island Field in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. This was reported in progress in earlier releases. This is a very attractive oil and gas region. Black Dragon has rights from the surface down to the top of the Haynesville Shale reservoir, and the depths below the Haynesville. However, as a good extra, the Company also obtained a royalty override in the Haynesville. The Haynesville is a highly productive gas zone at depths around 9000 ft. A major gas company has the majority interest in this Shale in this lease. The Haynesville Shale stretches across East Texas and North Louisiana. It has been highly productive and has been exploited most recently by several major gas companies for its immense reserves. Holding a percentage in the Shale is an attractive economic asset for Dragon.
