Integral Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq: ISYS) today announced its continued partnership with the US Air Force on the Rapid Attack, Identification, Detection and Reporting System Block-10 (RAIDRS RB-10) program. On September 25, the US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center obligated $27,740,754 to implement the restructure of the program from a 6 fixed and 3 deployable site configuration, to a 5 transportable system construct. The Air Force has approved the system restructure under a contract modification with a ceiling of $77,662,446.
Allegheny Power, the electric delivery business of Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE: AYE), announced today that the Public Service Commission of West Virginia has approved a settlement agreement that allows the company to issue bonds to fund the remaining portion of its flue gas desulfurization (scrubber) project at the Fort Martin Power Station, near Morgantown, W.Va.
Village Super Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:VLGEA) today reported its results of operations for the fourth quarter and year ended July 25, 2009. Net income was $6,680,000 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, a decrease of 3% from the fourth quarter of the prior year. Excluding a $708,000 charge related to litigation in fiscal 2009, net income increased 7% in the fourth quarter compared to the prior year. Net income, excluding the charge, increased primarily due to higher gross profit percentages, partially offset by higher operating expenses as a percentage of sales and higher depreciation expense.
Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (NYSE Amex:HEB), announced that Dr. Jonathan S. Berek, Professor and Chair, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Stanford University School of Medicine, presented new data on Ampligen(R) (Poly I : Poly C12U) at the Pacific Coast Oncology Gynecology Society Meeting, La Jolla, California, on October 1, 2009. The paper, entitled “Enhancing Dendritic Cell (DC) and Antibody Immunotherapy with Toll Receptor (TLR Agonists),” discusses the incorporation of a periodic “danger signal” into treatment regimens with a TLR3 agonist such as Poly I : Poly C12U and suggests such regimens may have broad potential application to boost the effects of immunotherapies of cancer.
Today, Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics leader hhgregg (NYSE:HGG) announced it will host a job fair to fill approximately 80 positions for two new stores scheduled to open in Richmond, VA this Fall. The job fair will be held at The Hotel Sierra, 11800 West Broad Street, Suite 1098, Richmond, VA from October 5th - 17th. The fair will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am-2:00pm.
CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA) announced that, effective October 5, 2009, Michael Powell has been appointed vice president of its Lombard branch. As branch vice president, Powell is responsible for synchronizing branch operations with CNA’s strategic goals for long-term success, including increasing local authority at the point of sale and improving service to agents and brokers in this territory. He comes to CNA with more than two decades of insurance experience, including positions of increasing responsibility at Chubb Insurance Companies, Safeco and The Hartford. Powell most recently served as Hartford’s assistant regional vice president - Los Angeles.
